SXSW INTERACTIVE – FILM & MUSIC FESTIVAL

Task

At the 2011 South by Southwest – Interactive/Music/Film Festival, Chevrolet was the premiere automotive sponsor. GTE was asked to design and execute an environment utilizing a 360 degree photo rig in order to showcase the new 2011 Chevy Sonic, which had not yet made its public debut. To add to the brands presence, GTE produced the ‘Chevy Sonic: 360 degree Sonic Photo Boom’ Booth.

Our Role

Working in conjunction with Chevrolet’s Creative Team, GTE designed, produced, and managed all aspects of the environment . Our on-site production team worked relentlessly for two days, constructing the space, and utilizing the 360 degree photo experience to highlight the vehicle. Participants were not only given the opportunity to have their ‘picture’ taken using the technology, but also the ability to send their friends video postcards via Facebook, Twitter, and email of their experience.

Finish Line

The Chevy Sonic: 360 degree Sonic Photo Boom took the spotlight at the 2011 SXSW Festival for 3 days. Festival goers were lined up all day to have the chance to participate in the experience. Each day, on average saw 300+ excited attendees enjoying the opportunity to experience what it’s like in “The Matrix” – or at least be photographed using the same 360 degree technology. Without a doubt, the booth was the hit of the show!
